Providing information about the meeting held at ATSO, ATSO President Koçaş said, "As it is known, there is an increase in the rates of work accidents and occupational diseases in workplaces due to industrialization in the world and in our country. An average of 74,000 accidents occur annually in our country; As a result, 1152 employees lose their lives, and 1888 employees are disabled for life. The annual cost of work accidents to our country is around 40 billion TL. 98% of Occupational Accidents and all occupational diseases are preventable.
Occupational health and safety measures should be taken to ensure that employees work in a healthier and safer environment and to protect their physical and mental health. Within this understanding, the field of occupational health and safety emerged with the contributions of positive and social sciences such as medicine, law, physics and psychology, which necessitates interdisciplinary interaction and cooperation. From a technical point of view, the focus is on eliminating or reducing the dangers faced by employees during the execution of the work, while in terms of health sciences, prevention and treatment of injuries caused by occupational diseases and work accidents come to the fore.
OUR BUSINESS WORLD MUST INCREASED THE IMPORTANCE IT ATTACHES TO OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
Koçaş stated that Aksaray Business World and ATSO members should attach importance to and increase the measures for occupational health and safety. To completely eliminate the risks in the workplace or to minimize the damages, to protect and improve the health of the employees physically, mentally and medically, to protect the employees from the negative effects of the working conditions, to detect the resulting health damages, occupational diseases and to provide their treatment, We came together with the members of our Chamber in the Occupational Health and Safety Sector, serving in our city, in order to enable the employees who have been harmed as a result of the disease to work in appropriate jobs, to determine and evaluate the degree of damage in an objective, scientific and ethical way, and to eliminate material and moral damages. After consulting the sector's problems and solution proposals, we will be a solution to the sector's problems by preparing a report to forward it to the relevant authorities, especially our Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. Our expectation from our business world is that they provide the highest level of security measures they provide in their workplaces and that they do not allow any accidents. I would like to thank our sector representatives who participated in the meeting we organized based on all these thoughts and expectations, and hope that our meeting will bring good results.
