Turkey organized by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Konya, Karaman and Aksaray Joint Board of the problems and demands of the ACCI Board Treasurer Member of TOBB President Ahmet Pektas the meeting of Educational Institutions and the press and media sector were forwarded to Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.

Taking the floor at the meeting, Pektaş in his speech;

Until 2019, our state was providing support to private schools and students with approximately TL 4,000 for students at the level of incentives according to their situation. With the end of support for private schools, which ended in 2019, the demand for private schools decreased, and private schools were seriously affected during the pandemic period. At this point, our request is to revive an incentive for students studying in private schools. This is of great importance for Private Schools to survive.

Another issue is that the VAT rate for education and training services has been reduced to 1% between 01.09.2020 and 30.06.2021. We request that this period be extended until the end of the year or work be done to make it permanent.

Mr. President, when it comes to Educational Institutions, we think of Public Schools or Private Schools. However, while foreign language courses, Driving Courses, Security Courses, Private Education Courses occupy a large place in the education sector, they cannot benefit from any support. At this point, we hope that studies will be carried out to provide credit support or grants to our educational institutions operating in this field.

The press community, which is another sector in which I also operate, also has demands from you. The first of these is that there is no protective law or regulation in which the press members' rights will also exist. We are considered in the same status as a normal person in law when the incident is in question in any question. As you have followed in the media recently, there have been a lot of physical attacks, especially against local press members. When a member of the press who is physically attacked complains about the other party, no action can be taken since there is no law protecting the press members. In this sense, we demand the enactment of a protective law or regulation in which we will also have rights.

As it is known, while our state has achieved a significant increase in the minimum wage in 2021, there has also been an increase in many products. However, there has not been a significant increase in official advertisement fees, which is one of the biggest means of income for press members. Many press members are in a difficult situation in the face of the incoming hikes. In order to prevent this, an increase in official advertisements is demanded by the press community.

As is known, the official announcement is only applied in print media. It should not be forgotten that it is a press organization in radios, which has been one of the indispensable communication channels since 1927. At this point, our last request from you will be on the work to make use of official advertisements on your radios.

We fully believe that your person, who has so far found and tried to find solutions to all our problems, will do his best in the matters we have mentioned. At this point, I would like to thank you wholeheartedly for all your work and offer my respects ”.

Responding to the requests of ATSO Board of Directors Treasurer Ahmet Pektaş, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said that we have reduced the VAT rate to 1%, saying that we are working on the continuation of the incentives, Foreign language courses, Driving Courses, Security courses, Special Education Courses He stated that they have made meetings with the Minister of National Education and they will continue to do so, closely follow the increase in the official advertisement fees given to the press, and also work to benefit from the official advertisement on their radio.

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu, who responded to the request of Cebrail Çınar, a member of ATSO Board of Directors, to open the wedding halls as soon as possible by taking precautions, our State and the Ministry of Health will reopen them at their weddings if the vaccination studies are successful and our citizens act in accordance with the measures. We are doing the necessary work in this regard, ”he said.
